The Policy Area Coordinator team for PA Education has now been enlarged by Ida Berg, Norden Association, as Communication Officer, as well as Merle Andraschko, Senate Chancellery of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, as co-Policy Area Coordinator. We are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation.

Our last Steering Group Meeting took place in a hybrid format in Stockholm mid-June, where members were updated on the status of the ongoing flagships under PA Education: for instance, the governance of the School to Work flagship has recently been strengthened by a new advisory board with experts from respective line ministries in the Member States. 21 participants have completed the Coordinator Training Programme for One-Stop Youth Guidance Centres delivering integrated services to young adults not in education, employment, or training organised within this flagship. In this context, we cordially invite you to the final conference in this project to be held in Stockholm on 13 September 2022. Please find the programme enclosed. Welcome to register for the conference following this LINK. Please register as soon as possible and not later than on 25 August 2022.

Furthermore, members exchanged on the integration of Ukrainian citizens into the labour markets in Member States and discussed the role of members of the Steering Group when it comes to implementation on the national level. As of July 1st, Sweden will take over the Presidency of the Steering Group. We would like to express our thanks to the outgoing Lithuanian Presidency.

• Distance education – teaching and learning powered by digital technology

September 30, 10.00–11.30 (CET).
Host: Norden Association in Sweden

Few groups have been less vulnerable to the coronavirus than school children, but few groups have been more affected by the policy responses to contain this virus. The crisis has exposed the many inadequacies and inequities in our school systems – from the broadband and computers needed for online education, through the supportive environments needed to focus on learning, up to the failure to enable local initiative and align resources with needs. But as these inequities are amplified in this time of crisis, this moment also holds the possibility that we will not return to the status quo when things return to “normal”. It is the nature of our collective and systemic responses to the disruptions that will determine how we are affected by them. In this workshop we will take a closer look at the lessons learned in relation to distance education in the Baltic Sea Region and discuss what can be expected post COVID-19. What will the new “normal” be?

Within Baltic Sea Region, several challenges are identified that need to be addressed and solved together. One key in the macro-regional strategies is long-term collaboration between actors in the member states. In the Erasmus+ project BSR Cluster Manager Education, we create possibilities for regional Cluster Managers to collaborate over borders and sectors through a four-module long pilot education exclusively created for Cluster Managers in the Baltic Sea Region. In our event, we will highlight the importance of and challenges for collaboration between regional clusters in Baltic Sea Region and explore how collaboration can be improved. What human resources do we need to foster and what competences can universities help to develop to further strengthen the collaboration through cross-border education of Cluster Managers? As audience, you will be involved, and you can interact with and ask questions to the panel through a chat function.
