The National Coordinators are the overall coordinating body of the EUSBSR. One of the most important tasks of the NCs is also to communicate the EUSBSR in their national setting to coordinate the involvement of the Member State in the Strategy and to seek political and public support for it. Communicating the EUSBSR in national settings and in national languages is critical in increasing the overall awareness about the Strategy framework.
Each National Coordinator has their own way of coordinating their work in the national setting. However, to secure balanced and unified communications in each Member State, some guidelines can be drawn and best practices shared. Having regular NC meetings in place, there is already a suitable platform for sharing best practices.
General guidelines for national communications of EUSBSR:
Concerning the internal national stakeholders:
1) Establishing and using communication channels reaching all relevant national stakeholders in order to have a platform for exchange of information to both ways (from NC to national stakeholders and vice versa). Channels can include:
- separate or joint e-mail lists,
- meetings (e.g. (bi-)annual national EUSBSR coordination group meeting),
- personal contacts with all national stakeholders.
2) Involving and encouraging the national EUSBSR stakeholders in communicating about the EUSBSR in their national networks.
Concerning the external national stakeholders (policy makers, potential project partners, general public interested in EUSBSR in the national setting)
1) Making sure there is up-to-date online information in national language available about the EUSBSR in general and about the Member State's involvement.
2) Events as a way to engage and attract new stakeholders:
- Bringing EUSBSR in the agenda of other relevant national events.
- Organising national EUSBSR information seminars and events.
3) Seeking political and public support for the EUSBSR by telling success stories relevant for the country
- Use the national PACs and Flagship representatives to find out how project results have affected your country.
- Use the project databases to find out what results and how much EU-funding has been brought to the country by EUSBSR related projects.
